The focus of this month’s E-zine is the
Vital Events available on NINIS
The NINIS website has now been updated with finalised 2013 Vital Events information. This includes information on:
- Births (including teenage births, age of mother, fertility rates, to mothers outside of NI)
- Deaths (including cause of death, mortality ratio, infant deaths and stillbirths, median age at death)
- Alcohol related deaths, Drug related deaths, Suicides
- Civil Partnerships
Datasets and Interactive Maps can be found under the ‘Population’ Theme on NINIS.
Statistics on baby names registered in NI in 2014 was published on 26 February. Data, interactive maps and infographics are available on the NINIS website under the 'Population' theme. Further information on baby names is available on the NISRA website.
Three Census 2011 releases were published at 9.30am on 26 February 2015:
Census 2011 Detailed Characteristics on Travel to Work or Place of Study for Northern Ireland: These releases will provide Detailed Characteristics tables on the topic of travel to work or place of study cross-tabulated with one or more other topics from the census. Tables will be provided for Local Government Districts in Northern Ireland.
Census 2011 Local Characteristics on Travel to Work or Place of Study for Northern Ireland: This release will provide Local Characteristics tables on the topic of travel to work or place of study cross-tabulated with one or more other topics from the census. Tables will be provided for Small Areas in Northern Ireland.
Census 2011 Additional Workplace and Daytime Population Statistics: This release will provide Workplace and Daytime Population Statistics on the topic of distance travelled to work or place of study. Tables will be provided for Local Government Districts and Super Output Areas in Northern Ireland.

Local Government District 2014
Next month, local councils will be reduced from 26 to 11 under a programme of reform. NINIS currently has over 170 datasets and over 80 interactive maps available at the new 11 districts (LGD2014), under a variety of themes including Census, Population and People and Places. Also available on NINIS for the 11 new districts are Census 2011 Infographics, as well as Census 2011 and Deprivation 2010 area profiles.
A number of datasets and interactive maps have been updated with latest year data.
Updated datasets include Gross Annual, Weekly and
Hourly Pay from the Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings (ASHE),
Social Rented Sector Waiting Lists and Completions and
Drug and Alcohol Treatment Services.

Central Postcode Directory updated
An updated Central Postcode Directory (CPD) as of January 2015 is available on the NISRA website.
