The focus of this month's E-Zine is
Age Friendly Area Profiles
for Local Government Districts (LGD2014)
The World Health Organisation (WHO) has established a global network of Age Friendly Cities and Communities that encourage active ageing by optimising opportunities for health, participation and security in order to enhance quality of life as people grow older. The WHO has proposed eight areas that can help to identify and address barriers to the well-being and participation of older people.
Age Friendly Area Profiles on NINIS include key statistics on each of these themes and also some demographic and deprivation statistics. They can be accessed by entering your postcode in the postcode search box to open an Area Profile at Local Government District (LGD2014). You should then select the ‘Age Friendly’ tab.
Infographics to accompany these profiles are also available for each Local Government District (LGD2014):
Antrim and Newtownabbey,
Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon,
Causeway Coast and Glens,
Derry and Strabane,
Fermanagh and Omagh,

The next census in Northern Ireland will be in 2021 and as part of the census consultation programme, NISRA has launched a public consultation asking users for their views on the topics that the 2021 Census questionnaire might cover.
You can respond to the topic consultation online.
More information on the topic consultation can be found on the 2021 Census consultation page.
